This project will use large-scale corpus methods to investigate how features of the language environment influence the linguistic and social skills of typically and atypically developing populations of children. The particular target of the investigation will be scaffolding by teachers of (typical and atypical) children’s comprehension and production skills within a classroom environment. The goal is to consider how teachers and other educators may facilitate the language development and social interaction of young children, especially those with autism or other language/communication disorders.
