Opening of ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science

It is with great pleasure that I’m able to issue our first news update from inside the brand new ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science, now open at Lancaster University.

The CASS team has been steadily growing with a series of recent appointments. Joining the In February, Amanda Potts and Vaclav Brezina were appointed as Centre Research Associates. One month later, current Lancaster University third year Linguistics and English Language undergraduate student and corpus-based critical discourse analyst Robbie Love won a studentship to begin a funded Masters degree following on to PhD in partnership with the Centre.

The first major Centre project to roll out will be the Changing Climates, headed up by S.I. Distinguished Professor John Urry and carried out with the help of a dedicated multilingual project R.A.

Check back soon for updates on this project and more news from CASS.
