How can we communicate academic ideas clearly, confidently and effectively to different audiences? This term, the CASS Open Research Group explores how to present research and academic information to a range of stakeholders, from fellow students and academics to social media audiences and traditional media.

Drawing on insights from other disciplines, including acting and art, we will explore practical ways to become more confident and engaging communicators. After all, communication is arguably the number one skill for sharing ideas and making research matter.

Our reading includes Laurence Olivier’s On Acting (1986), inviting us to learn from the art of performance as well as from academic practice.

Everyone is welcome – students, academics, visitors and passers-by. Come along to share ideas, learn something new, or simply listen in!

Group dates:

28th October – B89

11th November B89

25th November B59

9th December B89

Certificates of attendance will be available to registered participants who attend on a regular basis.
